UC San Diego Sustainability Launches New Green Residence Program

The Sustainability Programs Office developed a new tool to help students, staff and faculty implement best practices at home to conserve resources and save money, whether they are living on campus or working remotely.

The Green Residence Program includes a behavioral self-assessment that evaluates a participant’s current practices and provides a score upon completion. Participants can also explore tips in 17 categories, such as Heating and Cooling, Water Use and Plant-Based Diet, to understand the environmental impacts of particular behaviors and to learn how to implement more sustainable practices into their daily routines.

The Sustainability Programs Office focuses on increasing sustainability education and awareness throughout the campus community. Green Residence is the fourth initiative that the office added to its suite of engagement programs, which includes Green Labs, Office and Classroom.
